Manufactured in Japan.
Look at this picture: these are joints for X-Base shafts. Usually these parts are mass-produced on fully-automated production lines. These are not Balmuda products. Every one of our parts is made in the workshop of a skilled craftsman. Those 60 years of experience and outstanding talent are a guarantee of superior quality for us and for you.
All our products are stamped "Made in Japan". We are proud to make our products in our country, which has a fine history of industrial and small-scale production. There are two reasons for our choice.

First: quality. Our standard of quality is much higher than average. Japanese companies undergo the most demanding quality control in the world. This guarantees exceptionally high quality manufacturing, not only at large companies, but also at small supplier firms. Small factories often employ advanced technology. And although the number of small factories is falling, the skills level of their employees remains very high. There are many highly skilled workers in Japan, and our constant search for quality close to perfection means they are in high demand. They guarantee the quality of the products we offer you.

Second: we are a Japanese designer. We believe we have a role to play in the revival of manufacturing in Japan. Of course, like many other companies, we were tempted by relocation. But we are convinced that the immediate cost reduction it brings does not make for long-term gain. As part of their marketing strategy, many companies have relocated subcontracting, designing in Japan and manufacturing elsewhere. This hurts small companies and destroys highly skilled jobs. As a result our domestic market is weakened, which is to no one's advantage. Therefore, for as long as we can, we will go on making our products in Japan.

Can we afford to be so stringent because our company is still small? We do not have the answer to that.
We have a number of principles that we hope we'll never have to sacrifice. And when our small company grows, we hope to continue to be proud of both the superior quality of our products and the way they are made.
That's what the "Made in Japan" label means to us.
